It's only a visual effect, calculated and displayed by the client's machine. The only lag something like this would cause is processor/ram lag if they were playing on a machine that couldn't render things very well. The network component of such an effect would be just an extra field of info about a player "glowing=1" or something. |

As for the comments about lawyer speak, etc with regards to the 'aura', I only have this to say, Po-tay-toe, Po-ta-toe, To-may-to, To-ma-toe. You read it one way, others read it another way. Maybe they should have been more clear on the box, and maybe the packaging was done up before they finalized the exact visual effect and their legal dept decided it didn't need changing. So if you want to sue over such an INANE and IDIOTIC thing, go right ahead, fools and their money are soon parted, just like you proved when you bought the CE because you thought you'ld get a wierd glow effect that has no game effect if you spent extra money. |

WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! HA HA HA!!!
Just a few nights ago I was gaming with a couple pleasant fellows and I asked this girl that was with us: "Why are you glowing like that? I can barely even make out the details on your armor" And she was glowing... like shiny glowing... She replied: "What? I'm glowing?" So apparently she had this divine aura and didn't even know... Perhaps you can't see it yourself and only others can see it. Try asking your guildmates about it when your together. cool... secondary comment: yes, it would be great if they could add divine aura as some kind of (non-advantage giving) effect during battle... |

This whole divine aura argument really needs to be dropped. Personally, paying extra money just to glow is completely absurd. When you pay the extra $30 US, you're paying for headphones, an artbook and other stuff, hence the name Collector's Edition. It wouldn't be a CE without all that material. However, if you bought it solely for the purpose of the divine aura, congratulations, yes, you were ripped off. Did people feel decieved about it? Most definitely. But it shouldn't be the prime factor in making the purchase. Concerning the constant glowing effect, it makes sense to not have it show all the time. Think of it from a PvPer's point of view. Would you really want to be targetted faster because of the aura? Especially playing as a Monk, this could be annoying. It would make the opposing team better able to identify their target because there's one more way to do it. Just look for the guy with the aura. Someone's gonna hate everything I said and I don't care. I'm very happy with my CE and because I didn't buy it only for a little ingame effect.

I bought my GWCE from a specialty store close to where I live.... When I ordered it they said, "Do you want the regular or the CE?" I was excited to hear that a CE was available, but to my dismay the clerk had NO IDEA what the CE included. Since it was only $20 more than the regular, I decided it would be worth it....
The day my CE came in, I went and picked it up and discovered that the following things were included: Collector's Exclusive: "Divine Aura" ~Each character you create manifests the god's favor with a glowing aura, visible to all. Logitec Internet Chat Headset ~Advance your gameplay with this high-quality noise canceling headset. Teamspeak Software (Custom Version) ~East-to-use Teamspeak lets up to seven friends join in voice chat during your adventure. 3 Months Free Voice Hosting* ~Get 3 months free access to Speakeasy's Teamspeak voice hosting service. It's safe, fast, and secure. Hardcover Guild Wars Art Book ~Admire more than 120 pages of Dazzling full-color art from the world of Guild Wars. Guild Wars Soundtrack CD ~Enjoy the evocitive music of British Acadamy Award winner Jeremy Soule. *The free three (3) month Teamspeak/Speakeasy voice chat service is available for service initiated prior to April 28, 2006. Thereafter, the voicechat service requires acceptance of additional agreements and payment of additional fees. I was excited about this DA, cause this was the first time I had heard about it.... I already had a logitech headset ($20 from WalMart), but I got a new GW logo earpiece cover for it .... Teamspeak/Speakeasy I have never heard of and haven't used it yet (probly won't).... The Art book really got my blood pumping good (I drooled over it all the way home).... The GW soundtrack sounded good and I looked forward to listening to it.... When I installed GW I was actually convinced that the DA was the most disappointing CE bonus I have ever experienced.... I actually thought I would have a glowing "aura" (Google aura) according to the God's Favor of my character, not just sparkles on my hands during SOME emotes.... All in all, I am happy with my CE, although I think that NCSOFT should've moved the DA to the bottom of the list of includes as it does imply a significant feature when placed at the top. It was mis-leading and IMHO was done purposefully done so to squeeze an extra few(?) bucks out of people as all companies do.... The interpretation is the one thing that will keep them out fo the courts though. done now.... whew.... fingers cramping.... |

When i first played GW i searched for that aura!
I looked at people, wondered if i can't see my own aura and then i thought the aura was when you move the cursor over a char and they glow. But everyone glows with the cursor on them (female Elementarists in standard armor glow even more). The time i learned about emotes i realized that this so called DA was some sparkles at my hands when i emote. I admit it was a bit dissapointing, i did not buy CE only because of this but i imagined that the ingame CE feature would be a bit better. In SWG you got shades with CE as special item and you could not trade em etc (and no i don't want shades in GW ^^). DA should be a bit improved (and not ??ber mega glow on my char, that i would not like). I read the Artbook 2 times, now it is with my other books. Soundtrack i rarly listen and Headset is sometimes practical. I use most of all the actual game and so i want the CE ingame feature to be a tad better because you will have more of it then from the other box items.
